Like last month, there have been hardly any changes in rankings of the domain name registrars where rogue Internet pharmacies set up shop. We have been following the rise of Japan’s GMO Internet (aka onamae.com or お名前.com) in the ranks since we began closely tracking this data. The registrar, which first moved into the Top 10 in April, climbed two spots this month, from No. 9 to No. 7, and we note that it has nearly twice the number of rogue Internet pharmacies on its platform than it did two months ago.
What’s more, the rogue Internet pharmacy networks that use GMO Internet for registration services are among the most prevalent in the Japanese market: BestKusuri (aka BestKenko) and Roy Union Limited together account for more than 43% of the rogue Internet pharmacies whose domain names are registered with GMO Internet. The domain name registrar is used for 51% of BestKusuri’s websites and more than 66% of Roy Union Limited’s websites.
